Performing Gallbladder Removal Surgery (Cholecystectomy)
During a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the surgeon creates four small incisions in the abdomen. Through one of these incisions, experts insert a tube with a tiny video camera, allowing the surgeon to view the procedure on a video monitor in the operating room. Surgical tools are inserted through the other incisions to remove the gallbladder.
After the surgery, you may undergo an imaging test, such as an X-ray or ultrasound, if your surgeon suspects the presence of gallstones or other issues in the bile duct. Once surgeon closed the incisions with sutures, experts will take you to a recovery area. Furthermore, The entire laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedure usually takes about one to two hours.
How is the preparation and the recovery period after the procedure?
To prepare for a cholecystectomy, your surgeon would require you to eat nothing the night before your surgery. You may drink a sip of water with your medications, but avoid eating and drinking at least four hours before your surgery.
